We’re back with our expeditions! 2023 is off to a great start with Will and Melina joining us on one of our 2 week expeditions and taking to it like ducks to water. Here’s what they have to say about their first week with us…
After having some trust issues with the bedding sheets after the dangerous animals lecture, our adventurous time started really well in Mozambique. Informative discussions with the fantastic LTO team equipped us with a wealth of knowledge about the marine life and cultural aspects of Mozambique, and we were prepared to give our best effort.
Our main focus this week was on fisheries research and ocean debris collection, but we also made time for some leisure activities. We took the paddle boards out and played with the waves and enjoyed the thrill of the ocean.
One of the highlights of this week has been the cultural tour led by Pascoal. He graciously welcomed us into his home and treated us to some of the most delicious food we’ve ever tasted! This glimpse into the local way of life helped us to connect with the people.
We closed out the week with our first diving experiences of the trip, Melina diving down at The Caves and Coral Gardens, spotting a Green turtle and some dolphins along the way! And Will made a start on completing his PADI rescue diver qualification.
As we look ahead to the upcoming week, we can’t help but feel excited about what’s on the schedule. We’re eager to continue our work and explore more of the beauty that Mozambique has to offer.
