On June 28, Mozambique extended the state of emergency first implemented on March 30 by a further 30 days to the end of July. The state of emergency places restrictions on movement and activities to reduce contact and transmission of the disease. All participants on July expeditions have already been contacted.
The following restrictions remain in place in response to CV-19 impacting Love The Oceans programs, and the latest information can be found here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/mozambique/entry-requirements
FLIGHTS: All international commercial passenger flights are currently suspended until further notice.
ENTRY VISAS: The government has suspended the issuing of entry visas.
QUARANTINE: Individuals entering Mozambique will be required to observe self-quarantine for a period of 14 days
Currently, Mozambique’s CV-19 statistics are: 859 confirmed cases, of whom 228 have made a complete recovery, and 631 are active cases. Five Covid-19 patients have died, four of the disease itself, and one from an unrelated cause.
The government reports the 586 active corona cases in Mozambique are mostly in the far northern provinces of Nampula (253) and Cabo Delgado (148). There are 78 active cases in the city of Maputo and only 13 cases in the Inhambane province where Love The Oceans is in the south.
Love The Oceans will provide a further update at the end of July, or if the situation changes prior.
