Claire and Isla, 5 week marine professional development program
Words by Claire

Et voilà!

We spent the week at Paindane School, helping to raise awareness about the ocean and its incredible wildlife. We painted marine animals for the children in the mornings and gave a lesson on marine mammals to the older students on the afternoons. Seeing their curiosity and excitement as they discovered our artwork was incredibly rewarding. One thing I didn’t expect was how much I would enjoy painting. It became a peaceful moment in my days. I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite so inspired to create.

Spending entire days at the school also gave me the chance to connect with the children outside of the classroom. Despite the language barrier and the shyness of some of the younger students, we quickly found ways to communicate. Drawing in the sand and laughing together created some truly special memories.

We ended the week with a road trip to Tofo, a perfect way to wrap up a week full of learning, creativity, and new friendships!
